What I Bring
to the Table
Our identities are informed by the narratives we speak and share. These narratives are passed down from generation to generation as stories of inheritance, legend, and honor.

What I Bring to the Table is a series of artists who tell their stories as they have immigrated from their birth-ridden culture into another— from the displacement encounters of their past. Immigrants must tell their stories through their own lens, for they add value to our understanding of humanity.

Utilizing the artwork of three selected artists, we created a way to capture a glimpse of the narrative readers would go through. We added a soft brown tone to the title treatment as it represents the lands we walk on. ︎︎︎

Throughout the spreads, a line system was designed to give an open-ended structure. The line element also represents the concept: "where there is an end, there is always a beginning." Designing these lines to be a thinner weight communicates an optimistic look towards the journey, which each of these artists communicates. ︎︎︎
